Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.
What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read
Cyfronet AGH's Krakow system, 48 dual-socket FormatServer THOR ERG21 nodes paired with 384 NVIDIA A100 40GB GPUs, installed in 2021 and formally inaugurated on 4 October 2022; briefly Poland's fastest machine before Cyfronet's own Helios. AGH's own equipment page, TOP500 and Polish trade outlets (DCD, ITReseller) independently agree on 48 servers and 384 A100s, so the CPU and accelerator edges are verified; TOP500 names Format as manufacturer with no independent statement found, so that edge and all quantitative figures stay reported. AGH's page states 6,144 CPU cores, which conflicts with TOP500's own 47,616 total core count for the same system; TOP500's figure is used here and the conflict is logged rather than resolved. TOP500 is the only source for Rmax, Rpeak and core count, so the tier is reported.

Where sources disagree
We record conflicts instead of picking a winner quietly. All open questions.
- Core count: 6,144 CPU cores (AGH equipment page) against 47,616 total cores (TOP500). TOP500's figure is used; AGH's 6,144 appears to count only the AMD EPYC CPU cores, not whatever TOP500 aggregates into its own core count.
Change history
- 2026-10-04 Added AI datacenter metrics for athena
- 2026-09-23 Added; a new operator (Cyfronet AGH) and a new integrator (Format) joined the taxonomy, and its core count conflicts with TOP500
Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
