BioHive-1

Operated by Recursion at Recursion Pharmaceuticals HQ (Salt Lake City) .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

Recursion Pharmaceuticals' first on-premise AI supercomputer, an NVIDIA DGX A100 SuperPOD of AMD EPYC 7742 hosts and NVIDIA A100 GPUs on Mellanox HDR InfiniBand at the company's Salt Lake City headquarters. It debuted 84th on the June 2021 TOP500 list and was later superseded in throughput by BioHive-2, though no decommissioning notice was found for it. NVIDIA's own account ties the machine to training Recursion's Phenom-1 cellular imaging model but does not restate the exact core count or Rmax/Rpeak TOP500 reports, so those figures stay TOP500-only and the tier is reported. Because the (top500, 2026-06) edition already holds fifty tracked rows, this dataset records BioHive-1's June 2021 debut appearance rather than a more recent one; TOP500 itself continued to list the unchanged system through at least June 2026.

Source check

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
