Meta Prometheus
Deep dive: Meta Hyperion and Prometheus: tents and gas
Operated by Meta Platforms at Meta New Albany AI Campus (Prometheus) .
Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.
What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.
| Role | Part | Supplier at build | Quantity | Confidence | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Integrator | - Meta-designed "tent-style" modular data center halls, each roughly two and a half football fields, built to accelerate deployment versus conventional construction | Meta Platforms | - | Reported | gamesbeat.combaxtel.com |

| On-site gas | Williams Companies | 200 | operating | 2026-08 | Regulatory filing | Socrates South behind-the-meter plant, OPSB-approved 9 Jun 2025, 200 MW. Epoch drone video (Aug 2026) saw 138.8 MW running, about 69%. Part of a 400 MW project. | power-eng.comepoch.ai |
| On-site gas | Williams Companies | 200 | permitted | 2026-08 | Regulatory filing | Socrates North, second 200 MW site; mgrid says OPSB approved both (400 MW), Power Engineering describes South only. Epoch: turbines installed, none running Aug 2026. | mgrid.orgepoch.ai |
| On-site gas | Williams Companies | 250 | planned | 2026-08 | Third-party estimate | Epoch: Socrates the Younger plant announced at a maximum of 250 MW, operational Q3 2028 on project schedule. Single source. | epoch.ai |
| Grid | American Electric Power | - | operating | 2026-10 | Operator stated | Meta says it worked with AEP to plan energy for New Albany. Epoch lists American Electric Power and Williams as energy companies. No grid MW stated. | datacenters.atmeta.comepoch.ai |
| Wind and solar | - | 847 | contracted | 2026-10 | Operator stated | Meta says five Ohio projects it supports add 847 MW of new clean energy to the grid. Used to match its electricity use; not a direct supply to the site. | datacenters.atmeta.com |
| Nuclear | Vistra | 2,176 | contracted | 2026-01 | Operator stated | 20-year PPAs for 2,176 MW from Perry and Davis-Besse (Ohio) plus uprate energy; purchases begin late 2026. Announced as supporting Prometheus. | world-nuclear-news.orgutilitydive.com |
| Nuclear | Oklo | 1,200 | planned | 2026-01 | Operator stated | Oklo advanced nuclear campus in Pike County, Ohio; Meta prepays power. First phase from 2030, 1.2 GW by 2034, delivered into the PJM grid. | world-nuclear-news.orgutilitydive.com |
| Nuclear | TerraPower | 690 | planned | 2026-01 | Operator stated | Meta funds two Natrium units of up to 690 MW from 2032, with rights to energy from up to six more units (2.1 GW) by 2035. | world-nuclear-news.orgutilitydive.com |
How AI campuses are powered: capacities are what the operator, utility or filing states, not what has been delivered.
The read
Meta's first named "titan cluster", announced by Zuckerberg in a July 2025 post alongside Hyperion and described as reaching gigawatt scale in New Albany, Ohio. Meta's own tent-style modular halls, each about two and a half football fields and roughly 30 MW per tent, let the company bring capacity online in months rather than years, according to a Meta infrastructure executive quoted by GamesBeat; Baxtel's data center listing independently confirms the New Albany location, gigawatt-scale sizing and a stated $1.5 billion investment. Neither source gives an exact GPU count or a measured facility power draw (both report only the qualitative "1 gigawatt scale" target), so cores and power are left blank and the tier stays reported. No accelerator model, interconnect or cooling vendor is confirmed for this system specifically, so only Meta's own role designing and building the tent structures is recorded as a component.

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.

Meta's Prometheus campus in Ohio, already in this dataset, is named as one beneficiary, though only a fraction of the contracted capacity is available on any timeline that matches Prometheus's 2026 target.
