Meta Montgomery (Alabama)
Also known as Meta Montgomery AI data center
Operated by Meta Platforms at Meta Montgomery Data Center .
Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.
What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.
| Role | Part | Supplier at build | Quantity | Confidence | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Integrator | - Meta designs, builds and operates the Montgomery, Alabama data center, expanded to nearly 1.3 million sq ft and optimized for AI workloads | Meta Platforms | - | Reported | datacenters.atmeta.com |
| Accelerator | - Epoch AI estimate: about 69,100 NVIDIA B300 GPUs (modelled, not disclosed by Meta) | NVIDIA | 69,100 estimated | Reported | epoch.ai |
AI datacenter metrics
Figures beyond an accelerator count, each with who stated it. What can and cannot be compared across AI datacenters.
| Metric | Value | As of | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Accelerators | 69,100 accelerators | 2026-10-02 | Third-party estimate | About 69,100 B300; Epoch projects about 161,300 by Q1 2027. Epoch AI chip estimate (modelled from satellite imagery, cooling equipment and chip availability); not an operator disclosure. | epoch.ai |
| Stated investment | 1.5 USD bn | 2025-09 | Operator stated | Meta: campus investment of more than 1.5 billion dollars after the September 2025 expansion; floor value | datacenters.atmeta.com |
| IT power | 153 MW | 2026-10-02 | Third-party estimate | Epoch AI modelled IT power from satellite imagery and permits; not operator-stated. Epoch projects 358 MW by Q1 2027. | epoch.ai |

How AI campuses are powered: capacities are what the operator, utility or filing states, not what has been delivered.
The read
Meta's Montgomery, Alabama data center, announced on 2 May 2024 as an investment of more than 800 million dollars and 715,000 square feet, then expanded on 23 September 2025 to nearly 1.3 million square feet and more than 1.5 billion dollars with two new buildings, 227 MW of new Alabama renewables and an optimized-for-AI-workloads description. Meta publishes no compute capacity or hardware. Epoch AI's AI data centers dataset (CC BY 4.0) estimates about 69,100 B300 chips and 153 MW of IT power, with buildings 1 and 2 estimated operational by June 2026, and projects about 161,300 B300 chips and 358 MW by Q1 2027, from satellite imagery and Hensel Phelps contractor records. Meta has not announced an in-service date, so operational status and these figures are Epoch's modelled estimates in the metrics table only. Hardware rests on Epoch alone, so the tier is reported.

Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
