IREN Sweetwater Hub
Also known as IREN Sweetwater 1 and 2; IREN 2GW Sweetwater data center hub
Operated by IREN at Sweetwater Hub Site (TX) .
Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.
What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.
| Role | Part | Supplier at build | Quantity | Confidence | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Integrator | - IREN builds the 2 GW Sweetwater hub (Sweetwater 1 at 1,400 MW and Sweetwater 2 at 600 MW) with air and liquid cooling | IREN | - | Reported | iren.com |
AI datacenter metrics
Figures beyond an accelerator count, each with who stated it. What can and cannot be compared across AI datacenters.
| Metric | Value | As of | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Accelerators | 700,000 accelerators | 2026-10 | Design target | IREN says the two sites can support over 700,000 liquid-cooled GPUs; a capability statement, not a deployment, and the 10-K does not repeat it. | iren.com |
| Facility power | 2,000 MW | 2026-10 | Operator stated | 2,000 MW across Sweetwater 1 (1,400 MW) and Sweetwater 2 (600 MW); the 10-K confirms the 1,400 and 600 MW site figures. | iren.comsec.gov |
How it is powered
| Source | Provider | MW | Status | As of | Basis | Note | Source link |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grid | - | 2,000 | contracted | 2026-06 | Operator stated | 10-K: Sweetwater 1 (1,400 MW) plus Sweetwater 2 (600 MW) planned gross capacity on ERCOT; 10-K cites executed grid connection agreements. Sum of two lines. | sec.goviren.com |
How AI campuses are powered: capacities are what the operator, utility or filing states, not what has been delivered.
The read
IREN's 2 GW Sweetwater data center hub in West Texas, about 40 miles from Abilene, on two ERCOT-connected sites totalling 2,200 acres: Sweetwater 1 (1,400 MW, 1,700 acres) and Sweetwater 2 (600 MW, 500 acres). IREN's site page says the hub can support over 700,000 liquid-cooled GPUs and lists both sites as under construction with substation energization in 2026 and 2027 and air and liquid cooling; the FY2025 Form 10-K targets Sweetwater 1 substation energization in the second quarter of calendar 2026 and Sweetwater 2 in the fourth quarter of 2027, and does not mention any GPU deployment. No tenant is named. IREN's separate Childress campus is its own row. Both sources are IREN's own, so the tier is reported. It has never submitted an HPL result.

Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
Checked 2026-10-09 by pnpm verify. Re-run it and the table changes with the web.
