Researched with AI assistance, checked by scripts. These rows were researched by AI agents reading public operator, laboratory and vendor sources, appended by scripts and checked by automated validation; no subject-matter expert has reviewed them (how this site is made). A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1350 of 1540 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 64 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.
What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read
Ohio Supercomputer Center's 2012 flagship, an HP-built Xeon cluster that replaced the IBM Opteron 1350 Glenn cluster. OSC's page describes 8,328 cores on 694 nodes (its own technical-specifications section says 670 nodes), 12-core nodes with Xeon X5650 CPUs and 48 GB, 8 nodes with 192 GB, one 1 TB 32-core hugemem node, 128 NVIDIA Tesla GPUs and QDR InfiniBand, about 88 TF peak or just over 154 TF with the GPUs, at about 60 percent of Glenn's power. TOP500 lists 8,280 cores, Rmax 79.32 TF and Rpeak 88.10 TF (the CPU-only peak), 225 kW, at rank 300 in Jun 2012 and 460 in Nov 2012; the GPU model (Tesla 2070) comes from the TOP500 system string. OSC lists Oakley under its decommissioned supercomputers and had planned to retire it by the end of 2018, but no exact retirement date was found so none is recorded. Later OSC systems are separate entries.

Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
