Intel Xeon X5650

6-core Xeon host processor, 2.66GHz, used in Nebulae.

Why this part

The same Westmere generation as the X5670 used in Tianhe-1A, a clock bin down, and paired here with actively cooled workstation-class NVIDIA accelerators rather than the passively cooled server parts most large machines of the era used. Ordinary catalogue silicon; what made Nebulae unusual was the accelerator choice sitting next to it, not the host CPU.

“Units recorded” sums only the edges where a public source states a quantity. It is a floor, not a total, and should never be read as installed base.
