Nebius Independence AI Factory
Also known as Project Sovereign
Operated by Nebius at Nebius Independence Campus .
Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.
| Role | Part | Supplier at build | Quantity | Confidence | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Integrator | - Nebius builds and owns the Independence AI factory campus, up to 1.2 GW, construction started May 2026 | Nebius | - | Reported | nebius.comsec.gov |
AI datacenter metrics
Figures beyond an accelerator count, each with who stated it. What can and cannot be compared across AI datacenters.
| Metric | Value | As of | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Facility power | 1,200 MW | 2026-03-03 | Design target | Nebius: potential capacity up to 1.2 GW; project page splits 800 MW utility and 400 MW on-site generation. IT vs total not stated. Campus-level, multi-year build. | nebius.comnebius.com |

| Grid | Independence Power and Light | - | planned | 2026-03 | Operator stated | Campus connects to Independence Power and Light, the municipal utility, structured not to raise residential rates. Up to 1.2 GW is campus capacity, not grid MW. | nebius.com |
How AI campuses are powered: capacities are what the operator, utility or filing states, not what has been delivered.
The read
Nebius's first gigawatt-scale US AI factory, a multi-building campus on about 400 acres in Independence, Missouri, approved by the city council on 3 March 2026 for up to 1.2 GW, with closed-loop cooling and connection to Independence Power and Light. Nebius's Q1 2026 shareholder letter (13 May 2026) says it broke ground in Missouri the day before and expects the Missouri and Alabama sites to be operational in 2027. No page names the GPU hardware or count. Both sources are Nebius's own, so the tier is reported. It has never submitted an HPL result.

Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
