Operated by Argonne National Laboratory at Argonne Leadership Computing Facility .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

The DOE, NVIDIA and Oracle announced in October 2025 a 100,000-GPU Blackwell system at Argonne, which both NVIDIA and the DOE independently state and which is the headline fact here. Both name the Blackwell family, not a specific part, so the accelerator edge maps to the B200 as the family's base part. The two systems are given a combined 2,200 exaflops of AI performance with no per-system figure, so no FLOPS are recorded. We found no later status update.

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.

  • DOE, NVIDIA and Oracle announce Solstice and Equinox at Argonne · IT Pro
Solstice, with 100,000 Blackwell GPUs, and Equinox, with 10,000, are billed at a combined 2,200 exaflops of AI performance and sit at the same lab as Aurora, extending Argonne's fleet through a public-private financing model rather than the pure DOE-funded build Aurora was. Equinox is due in 2026; Solstice has no public delivery date yet, so neither belongs in the systems table until hardware lands.
