planqc MAQCS at LRZ

planqc MAQCS at LRZ is a neutral atoms quantum computer operated by LRZ in Germany. It has 1,000 physical qubits. It ranks 3 of 13 neutral atom machines in this table by physical qubit count. 5 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. No benchmark figures are recorded for it yet.

Also known as MAQCS, Multicore Atomic Quantum Computing System

planqc leads a roughly EUR 20 million BMBF-funded project (announced 13 November 2024) to build a 1,000-qubit neutral-atom quantum computer for the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre. About 800 kg of hardware arrived at LRZ in September 2026; the system is at technology readiness level 5 with the project aiming for TRL 6 to 7 and completion targeted for end of 2027 as a quantum co-processor to LRZ's HPC systems. No operating machine at LRZ is reported yet.
