Magne
Magne is a neutral atoms quantum computer operated by QuNorth in Denmark. It has 1,225 physical qubits. It ranks 1 of 10 neutral atom machines in this table by physical qubit count. 6 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. No benchmark figures are recorded for it yet.
Also known as QuNorth Magne, Level 2 quantum computer
Planned machine to be owned and run by the Danish initiative QuNorth, backed by about EUR 80 million from EIFO and the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The stated target is 50 logical qubits built from 1,225 physical neutral-atom qubits, supplied by Atom Computing with Microsoft software, and it is now expected to be fully operational in the spring of 2027, according to the facility milestone release of 2 September 2026. No performance data exist yet.
Spec sheet
Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.
| Spec | Value | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | Atom Computing neutral-atom hardware: 1,225 physical qubits for 50 logical qubits (planned) | Vendor reported | Planned system, not yet operational; QuNorth says Atom builds the hardware and Microsoft supplies the software and error correction. | quantumcomputingreport.comnovonordiskfonden.dk |
| Qubit type | Neutral atoms from Atom Computing (AC1000 line uses 171Yb) | Vendor reported | Magne documents do not name the atom species; 171Yb is stated for Atom's AC1000 platform, which is the likely basis. | quantumcomputingreport.comatom-computing.com |
| Cooling and environment | Housed in an ISO 7 clean room of about 80 m2 with controlled temperature, humidity, vibration (VC-B) and magnetic fields | Independent | Facility description from contractor Ramboll (press release, 2026-09-02); no cryogenic system is mentioned. Fully operational is now expected in spring 2027. | thequantuminsider.com |
| Software | Microsoft Azure quantum software with qubit virtualization; low-level qubit control layer open to users | Vendor reported | Novo Nordisk Foundation says users can bypass the Azure package to use physical qubits directly or run their own error correction. | novonordiskfonden.dkquantumcomputingreport.com |
| Cloud platforms | Microsoft Azure (an Azure account is needed to log in) | Vendor reported | Statement by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (July 2025) about access when Magne is ready. | novonordiskfonden.dkquantumcomputingreport.com |
| Access and pricing | Operated by QuNorth for Nordic academic and industry users with Nordic priority; no price published | Vendor reported | Foundation says Nordic users get access on very attractive terms; QuNorth is owned by EIFO and the Novo Nordisk Foundation. | novonordiskfonden.dkquantumcomputingreport.com |
