Euro-Q-Exa

Euro-Q-Exa is a superconducting circuits quantum computer operated by LRZ in Germany. It has 54 physical qubits. It ranks 25 of 43 superconducting machines in this table by physical qubit count. 12 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. No benchmark figures are recorded for it yet.

Also known as EuroHPC Euro-Q-Exa

IQM Radiance system at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, integrated with SuperMUC-NG and planned to work with the future Blue Lion system. Users reach it through the Munich Quantum Portal and the EuroHPC access portal. A second 150-qubit IQM system is planned; LRZ says by the end of 2026 while the EuroHPC page says early 2027, so the timing is not settled. Only the current 54-qubit system is counted here.

Co-located supercomputer: SuperMUC-NG. This machine is integrated with, or hosted beside, that system.

Spec sheet

Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.

SpecValueBasisNoteSource
Processor IQM Radiance 54-qubit QPU Independent LRZ says Euro-Q-Exa is based on the IQM Radiance system with 54 qubits; EuroHPC confirms IQM as supplier and 54 qubits (2026-02-12) but does not name Radiance. lrz.deeurohpc-ju.europa.eu
Qubit type Superconducting circuit qubits Independent Both pages state superconducting qubits; the qubit design is not stated. eurohpc-ju.europa.eulrz.de
Topology Square lattice with tunable couplers Independent EuroHPC states a square lattice; the IQM Radiance product page states a square lattice with tunable couplers for the 54-qubit option; LRZ confirms tunable couplers. eurohpc-ju.europa.euiqm.tech
Couplers 90 Vendor reported IQM 2024 presentation lists 54 data qubits plus 90 coupler qubits for the Radiance 54-qubit QPU; family-level figure, not confirmed for the LRZ unit. quantumcomputinglab.cineca.it
Native gates Arbitrary X and Y rotations, CZ Vendor reported Stated by IQM for the Radiance product family (54-qubit option), not specifically for the LRZ unit. iqm.tech
Cooling and environment Cryostat cooling below -273 C Independent LRZ gives no exact temperature. lrz.de
Fabrication IQM own quantum foundry, Espoo, Finland (company-level) Vendor reported The IQM presentation (2024) describes a 600 square metre foundry in Espoo; it does not name the foundry for this chip. quantumcomputinglab.cineca.it
Software Qiskit, PennyLane via the Munich Quantum Software Stack (MQSS) Independent LRZ also mentions a variety of programming languages. lrz.de
Cloud platforms Munich Quantum Portal; EuroHPC JU access portal Independent Both pages name these two access routes (2026-02-12). lrz.deeurohpc-ju.europa.eu
Access and pricing Via the Munich Quantum Portal and the EuroHPC JU access portal Independent LRZ says it can be used standalone or with SuperMUC-NG; primarily for research and innovation across academia, industry and the public sector; no price published. lrz.deeurohpc-ju.europa.eu
Successor 150-qubit IQM system (upgrade or second system) Independent Both pages say a 150-qubit system follows by the end of 2026; they differ on whether it is an upgrade (EuroHPC) or a second system (LRZ). eurohpc-ju.europa.eulrz.de
Roadmap Expansion to 150 qubits by end of 2026; future coupling to the Blue Lion supercomputer Independent Stated on 2026-02-12. lrz.deeurohpc-ju.europa.eu
