Aalto Q20

Aalto Q20 is a superconducting circuits quantum computer operated by Aalto University in Finland. It has 20 physical qubits. It ranks 51 of 74 superconducting machines in this table by physical qubit count. 6 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. 1 published benchmark or milestone record are listed below, each marked by who measured it.

Also known as AaltoQ20, IQM Radiance 20 at Aalto

Presented by Aalto University on 11 March 2026 as Finland's fourth quantum computer (IQM's fourth in Finland), funded by the Research Council of Finland for 2022 to 2026 and used for teaching, research and pulse-level work. It joins FiQCI beside Helmi (helmi) and the VTT Q50 (vtt-q50); CSC's docs of 18 September 2026 label it with the runtime id radiance20, list two broken couplers (qubits 16-17 and 9-14) and note service issues. No fidelity or coherence figures are published in the pages consulted.

Co-located supercomputer: LUMI. This machine is integrated with, or hosted beside, that system.

Spec sheet

Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.

SpecValueBasisNoteSource
Processor IQM 20-qubit superconducting processor (CSC runtime id radiance20) Independent CSC names IQM as manufacturer and Aalto as operator. docs.csc.fiquantumcomputingreport.com
Qubit type superconducting Independent CSC docs and QCR both say superconducting. docs.csc.fiquantumcomputingreport.com
Topology square lattice (2D grid) with nearest-neighbour connectivity Independent Two couplers (qubits 16-17 and 9-14) are listed as broken. docs.csc.fi
