KRISS 20-Qubit System
KRISS 20-Qubit System is a superconducting circuits quantum computer operated by KRISS in South Korea. It has 20 physical qubits. It ranks 51 of 74 superconducting machines in this table by physical qubit count. 4 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. 2 published benchmark or milestone records are listed below, each marked by who measured it.
Also known as Korean national 20-qubit superconducting quantum computer
South Korea's domestically built 20-qubit machine under the national quantum computing infrastructure programme (about 49 billion won over 2022 to 2026). It was shown publicly at MSIT's K-Quantum Square meeting on 10 January 2024, and on 12 March 2025 KRISS demonstrated cloud access at its main campus: users submit circuits through a web browser, up to 50 can connect, one job runs at a time, and a 30-qubit emulator is provided. ZDNet Korea reports average single-qubit fidelity of 99.93 percent (best 99.95) and average two-qubit fidelity of 93.85 percent (best 96.39), with two-qubit gates possible across up to 16 qubits; no coherence times are given. The next step is a 50-qubit system targeted for 2026. Operational start and exact campus city are not stated in the sources, so first_operational_date and site_id are blank.
Spec sheet
Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.
| Spec | Value | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | 20-qubit-class superconducting processor, qubits designed and fabricated by SKKU and UNIST | Vendor reported | KRISS leads; KISTI built the cloud and quantum software. | v.daum.netmobile.newsis.com |
| Software | KISTI cloud with browser circuit submission, 30-qubit emulator and measurement-error post-processing | Vendor reported | v.daum.net | |
| Access and pricing | Cloud via web server for domestic researchers; up to 50 users connected, one job at a time | Vendor reported | Pilot operation for some domestic researchers planned for the second half of 2025. | v.daum.net |
| Roadmap | 50-qubit system and cloud service targeted by 2026 | Vendor reported | Both reports give the same 50-qubit target. | v.daum.netmobile.newsis.com |
Published benchmark figures
These are numbers the builder or a paper reports for this machine, not results from a common test. The basis column says who measured them. What the metrics mean and why they are not comparable across technologies.
| Metric | Value | Measured | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single-qubit gate fidelity | 99.93% | 2025-03-12 | Vendor reported | Average single-qubit fidelity (best 99.95) reported by ZDNet Korea at the cloud demonstration. | v.daum.net |
| Two-qubit gate fidelity | 93.85% | 2025-03-12 | Vendor reported | Average two-qubit fidelity (best 96.39) across up to 16 qubits, as reported by ZDNet Korea. | v.daum.net |
