Tianhe-1A Hunan Solution

Also known as Tianhe-1A Changsha

Operated by NSCC Changsha (Hunan University) at National Supercomputing Center in Changsha .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

A mid-sized NUDT Tianhe-1A derivative at the National Supercomputing Center in Changsha, on the Hunan University campus: Xeon X5670 6-core 2.93 GHz hosts with NVIDIA 2050-class GPUs and NUDT's proprietary interconnect. TOP500 lists it as 'Tianhe-1A Hunan Solution' with 53,248 cores, 771.7 TFlop/s Rmax, 1,342.75 TFlop/s Rpeak and 1,155 kW, 30th on the November 2012 list and 16th when it debuted in November 2011. Data Center Knowledge reports that the centre, broken ground on 28 November 2010, was designed to house Tianhe-1A technology; it does not give the benchmark figures, so the second source supports the site and plan only. Status as of is the last TOP500 list it appeared on (June 2018); no retirement notice was found. TOP500 is the only source for Rmax, Rpeak and core count.
