Nuri

Also known as KMA Meteorological Supercomputer 4 (Nuri)

Operated by Korea Meteorological Administration at KMA Supercomputer Centre (Ochang) .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

One of the twin Cray XC40 weather supercomputers (with Miri) of the Korea Meteorological Administration's fourth-generation system. TOP500 lists Xeon E5-2690v3 12C 2.6GHz processors on the Aries interconnect with Cray Linux Environment, 69,600 cores, Rmax 2.40 PFlop/s, Rpeak 2.90 PFlop/s and 1,359.38 kW; it ranked 29th on the November 2015 list and was last listed in November 2021 at rank 251. KMA's history page independently records the fourth Meteorological Supercomputer as a Cray XC40, with an initial stage in December 2014 and a final stage in December 2015, housed at its National Center for Meteorological Supercomputer in Ochang; it does not name the machines, so the Nuri and Miri names and figures rest on TOP500 and the tier is reported. The Lenovo pair Guru and Maru, installed in 2021, are already in the register.

Source check

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
