Researched with AI assistance, checked by scripts. These rows were researched by AI agents reading public operator, laboratory and vendor sources, appended by scripts and checked by automated validation; no subject-matter expert has reviewed them (how this site is made). A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1350 of 1540 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 64 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read
Classified HPE system at the Army Research Laboratory DoD Supercomputing Resource Center, one of the two TI-22 systems announced in fall 2022; the unclassified sibling is Ruth (ruth-arl). The ARL DSRC Summer 2024 newsletter (Distribution A) names Marlyn for Marlyn Wescoff and describes an HPE EX-2500 with 57,600 AMD EPYC Genoa compute cores, 135 TB of memory and 13 PB of storage including 2 PB of NVMe flash, and reports that TI-22 passed acceptance testing in August, with government software installed and Pioneer mode until the system is stable. TOP500 lists an HPE Cray EX with AMD EPYC 9654 96-core 2.4 GHz, Slingshot-11 and HPE Cray OS, 55,296 cores, Rmax 2.31 and Rpeak 2.49 PFlop/s, installation year 2023, and only one appearance: 500th on the November 2024 list, the last place. The two core counts (57,600 versus 55,296) do not match, so the benchmark covered a subset or counted differently; TOP500's figures are kept. The DoD HPCMP unclassified-system tables do not list Marlyn. No site is recorded.
