Pasqal Fresnel

Pasqal Fresnel is a neutral atoms quantum computer operated by Pasqal in France. It has 100 physical qubits. It ranks 7 of 10 neutral atom machines in this table by physical qubit count. 10 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. No benchmark figures are recorded for it yet.

Also known as Orion Beta generation

Pasqal's documentation lists FRESNEL (France) among its 100-qubit Orion Beta generation QPUs reachable through Pasqal Cloud and partner clouds. Max 6000 ns sequences and 500 shots per job are documented. The documentation does not give the hardware site, a commissioning date or fidelity numbers. The 2022 HPCQS announcement used the name Fresnel for the planned 100-plus-qubit machines sent to Julich and TGCC.

Spec sheet

Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.

Processor Orion Beta generation, 100-qubit neutral-atom QPU Vendor reported Pasqal docs list FRESNEL as Orion Beta, up to 100 qubits, in France; Azure Quantum lists the same FRESNEL target. docs.pasqal.comlearn.microsoft.com
Qubit type Rubidium atoms trapped in optical tweezers Vendor reported Both pages repeat Pasqal's description: one trapped atom per qubit; the isotope is not stated. docs.pasqal.comlearn.microsoft.com
Topology Programmable 1D and 2D atom registers, up to 100 atoms, minimum spacing 5 um Vendor reported Orion Beta device limits from Pasqal docs: maximum radial distance 35 um, 200 layout traps. docs.pasqal.comlearn.microsoft.com
Native gates Analog mode with global Rydberg pulses (Rabi drive and detuning) Vendor reported Docs list FRESNEL in analog mode with a global Rydberg channel; sequences up to 6000 ns and 500 shots per job. docs.pasqal.com
Cooling and environment No cryogenics; laser-trapped atoms Vendor reported Pasqal hardware page says zero cryogenics for its neutral-atom systems; a family-wide statement. pasqal.com
Software Pulser, Pasqal Cloud SDK Vendor reported Docs show the Pasqal Cloud SDK returning Pulser device objects; Azure documents Pulser as the SDK. docs.pasqal.comlearn.microsoft.com
Cloud platforms Pasqal Cloud; Google Cloud; Azure Quantum; OVHcloud; Scaleway Vendor reported Provider availability table in Pasqal docs; Microsoft Learn independently lists the FRESNEL target on Azure Quantum. docs.pasqal.comlearn.microsoft.com
Access and pricing Cloud, pay-as-you-go via hyperscalers or credits bought from Pasqal sales; rates on request Vendor reported Pasqal publishes no price list for QPU time; Pasqal Cloud offers Academic, Pay-as-you-go and Premium plans. docs.pasqal.compasqal.com
Successor Orion Gamma Vendor reported Pasqal roadmap shows Orion Beta followed by Orion Gamma (140+ qubits); a 200-qubit Gamma device is listed for Saudi Arabia. pasqal.compasqal.com
Roadmap Orion Gamma (140+ qubits), then Vela (200+), Centaurus (500+ qubits, analog and early FTQC), then Lyra Vendor reported Pasqal roadmap dated October 2025; the hardware page says Centaurus orders 2026, deliveries from 2027. pasqal.compasqal.com
