Operated by Xi'an Ascend Intelligent Technology at Xi'an Future AI Computing Campus .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

First large-scale AI computing cluster in northwest China, built in about four months from May 2021 and launched on 9 September 2021 according to Huawei's Ascend site, with first-phase capacity of 300 P AI plus 8 P HPC. A 2023 profile describes thousands of Ascend 910 processors in Huawei Atlas 900 AI clusters and a 98.5 percent utilisation rate. The operator is Xi'an Ascend Intelligent Technology, with about 1.9 billion yuan of total investment and a planned total of 1,000 P (Sina Finance, April 2023). The 'P' figures are low-precision AI units. Power and exact chip count are not stated in the pages fetched.
