Researched with AI assistance, checked by scripts. These rows were researched by AI agents reading public operator, laboratory and vendor sources, appended by scripts and checked by automated validation; no subject-matter expert has reviewed them (how this site is made). A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1350 of 1540 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 64 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read
The Science and Technology Facilities Council Hartree Centre's production HPC system, a Bull Sequana X1000 mixing Xeon Gold 6142 nodes with Xeon Phi 7210 (Knights Landing) nodes on EDR InfiniBand, installed in 2017. TOP500 lists it as 'scafellpike' with 80,640 cores, Rmax 1.83 and Rpeak 4.33 PFlop/s, 529 kW (power measurement level 2) and Nmax 4,162,560, on eleven lists from November 2017 (85th) to November 2022 (471st, its last list). STFC's 20 June 2019 release, mirrored by Wired-Gov, calls it a BullSequana X1000 supercomputing platform and says NVIDIA V100 GPUs would be added through GPU-enabled Sequana blades, with no GPU count; the TOP500 entry shows no GPUs, so those accelerators are not in its figures and are not recorded as an edge. Rmax is about 42 percent of Rpeak. Its successor, the Lenovo GPU system Mary Coombs, is recorded as hartree-mary-coombs. TOP500 and the STFC release are the only sources used, so the tier is reported.
