Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

GE Research's supercomputer at its Niskayuna, NY campus, named after Thomas Edison's Menlo Park lab and the successor to an earlier internal platform called Breeze. Announced in September 2022 alongside a 5G testbed expansion, built in partnership with HPE (Cray-generation hardware and technology) and AMD, intended for aviation, energy and healthcare modeling and simulation across GE's businesses. HPCwire republished GE's own announcement (byline 'Source: GE') and DataCenterDynamics reported the same facts as an independent piece of journalism, so the HPE/AMD partnership, the Menlo name, and the Niskayuna location are treated as confirmed by two organisations; neither source gives a node count, FLOPS figure or power draw, and DCD's own account states outright that 'specifications weren't shared.' GE Research now sits within GE Aerospace after the 2021-2024 split of General Electric into GE Aerospace, GE Vernova and GE HealthCare. No source found after the original 2022 announcement independently confirms the system actually entered service on the planned Q4 2022 schedule or describes its current state, so status is recorded as operational on the strength of the original installation plan rather than a later confirmation; that gap is noted here rather than resolved by inference. No TOP500 submission was found.

Source check

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.

None of the cited sources could be read from our network: the hosts returned bot challenges or did not respond. This check says nothing about the citations either way. See how this check works.
