VLQ
VLQ is a superconducting circuits quantum computer operated by IT4Innovations in Czechia. It has 24 physical qubits. It ranks 33 of 43 superconducting machines in this table by physical qubit count. 7 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. No benchmark figures are recorded for it yet.
Also known as LUMI-Q, Czech national quantum computer
IQM-built 24-qubit machine at IT4Innovations in Ostrava, procured through the LUMI-Q consortium under EuroHPC. Its star topology is meant to cut the number of swap operations. It is directly connected to the Karolina supercomputer and was inaugurated on 23 September 2025. Gate fidelity figures are not given in the sources used.
Co-located supercomputer: Karolina. This machine is integrated with, or hosted beside, that system.
Spec sheet
Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.
| Spec | Value | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | IQM Radiance Star QPU | Independent | Czech outlet Lupa quotes IQM naming the 24-qubit processor Radiance Star (2025). | lupa.cz |
| Qubit type | Superconducting qubits | Vendor reported | IT4Innovations and IQM both describe superconducting qubits; the qubit design (for example transmon) is not stated. | it4i.czmeetiqm.com |
| Topology | Star-shaped topology with 24 physical qubits | Independent | IT4Innovations adds that the 24 qubits connect to a central resonator; the IQM release states the star-shaped topology and says it gives connectivity between all qubits. | it4i.czmeetiqm.com |
| Cooling and environment | Cryostat cooling the chip to about 10 millikelvin | Independent | Lupa describes a roughly 300 kg cryostat reaching its target in March 2025 before the chip was installed. | lupa.czquantumcomputingreport.com |
| Operating temperature | 10 mK | Independent | Lupa gives 10 millikelvin as the target value; Quantum Computing Report says 0.01 Kelvin. | lupa.czquantumcomputingreport.com |
| Fabrication | IQM own quantum foundry, Espoo, Finland (company-level) | Vendor reported | The IQM presentation (hosted by CINECA, 2024) describes a 600 square metre foundry in Espoo; it does not say this chip was made there. | quantumcomputinglab.cineca.it |
| Access and pricing | EuroHPC access for European academia, industry and public sector, linked to Karolina | Independent | IQM release of 2025-09-23 says capacity is accessible to all users across Europe via EuroHPC JU; no price published. | meetiqm.comit4i.cz |
