D-Wave Advantage2

D-Wave Advantage2 is a quantum annealing quantum computer operated by D-Wave Quantum in Canada. It has 4,400 physical qubits. It ranks 1 of 3 annealing machines in this table by physical qubit count. 15 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. 1 published benchmark or milestone record are listed below, each marked by who measured it.

Also known as Advantage2 system

General availability of the Advantage2 annealer was announced on 20 May 2025, with more than 4,400 qubits, 20-way connectivity, a stated 40% higher energy scale and 75% less noise than Advantage. It is offered on the Leap cloud service and for on-premises purchase. The country given reflects D-Wave's Canadian headquarters, since the page does not name the hosting site of the cloud unit. D-Wave also claims a beyond-classical result obtained on an Advantage2 prototype. The 4,400 figure is a rounded lower bound: D-Wave's documentation lists working graphs of 4,575 qubits and 41,474 couplers for one Advantage2 system and 4,506 and 40,302 for another, and these change as defects are logged.

Spec sheet

Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.

Processor Advantage2, Zephyr Z12 annealing QPU (sixth-generation D-Wave annealer) Vendor reported Anneal time is 0.5 to 2000 microseconds in the standard protocol and from 5 ns in the fast-anneal protocol (D-Wave docs example values and whitepaper), with 40% higher energy scale, 2x coherence and 75% less noise than Advantage (D-Wave claims, May 2025). docs.dwavequantum.comdwavequantum.com
Qubit type Superconducting loop qubit with compound Josephson junctions, annealing Vendor reported D-Wave docs describe the QPU as a lattice of superconducting metal loops (qubits and couplers) with over 4,400 qubits, 40,000 couplers and over 1,000,000 Josephson junctions, below 9.2 K superconducting transition. docs.dwavequantum.comdocs.dwavequantum.com
Topology Zephyr Z12 graph, 20 couplers per qubit (16 internal, 2 external, 2 odd) Vendor reported D-Wave whitepaper (May 2025) and an independent Polish Academy of Sciences dissertation (2026) both list Advantage2 as Zephyr Z12 with nominal degree 20, up from 15 for Pegasus. dwavequantum.comarxiv.org
Max connectivity 20 Vendor reported Each qubit couples to up to 20 others (nominal Zephyr degree); real working graphs lose some qubits and couplers to defects. dwavequantum.comarxiv.org
Couplers 40,000 Vendor reported Lower bound: both sources say more than 40,000 couplers, and the D-Wave docs list 41,474 for the Advantage2_system1 working graph, which changes as defects are logged. dwavequantum.comarxiv.org
Cooling and environment Closed-loop cryogenic dilution refrigerator with RF and magnetic shielding Vendor reported D-Wave docs describe a closed-loop dilution refrigerator plus RF-shielded enclosure and magnetic shielding, and the dissertation likewise says D-Wave QPUs run in a dilution refrigerator at millikelvin temperatures. docs.dwavequantum.comarxiv.org
Operating temperature 20 mK Vendor reported D-Wave docs give a qubit temperature of 20 +/- 1.0 mK for Advantage2_system1 (16.7 mK for Advantage2_system2) and say QPUs generally run below 20 mK. docs.dwavequantum.comdocs.dwavequantum.com
Power draw 12.5 kW Vendor reported D-Wave states its systems have drawn the same 12.5 kW over six generations, matching the 12.5 kW average power in its Advantage-generation hosting spec sheet. dwavequantum.comitdaily.com
Fabrication SkyWater Technology 200 mm fab in Minnesota (stated for the Advantage2 prototype) Vendor reported SkyWater said on 12 March 2025 that it fabricates D-Wave qubits at its Minnesota fab under a partnership of about a decade, in the context of the Advantage2 prototype used in the Science paper. silicon.co.uk
Software Ocean SDK (open-source Python tools) and Leap hybrid solvers Vendor reported D-Wave names the Ocean suite and Ocean SDK, plus a nonlinear hybrid solver handling up to two million variables and constraints, as the programming route. dwavequantum.comdwavequantum.com
Cloud platforms D-Wave Leap Vendor reported D-Wave states Leap offers Advantage2 with 99.9% availability and sub-second QPU response; Amazon Braket was not confirmed as carrying Advantage2. dwavequantum.comdwavequantum.com
Access and pricing Cloud access through Leap, or on-premises purchase Vendor reported No Leap price or plan table was found on the D-Wave pages fetched, so no price is recorded. dwavequantum.comitdaily.com
Predecessor D-Wave Advantage (Pegasus P16, 5,000+ qubits, 15-way connectivity) Vendor reported Advantage2 raises energy scale 40%, doubles coherence time and moves from 15-way Pegasus to 20-way Zephyr connectivity. nextplatform.comdwavequantum.com
Successor D-Wave Advantage3 Vendor reported In March 2025 the CEO placed Advantage3, a new design, at roughly 2028, preceded by an Advantage2 Performance Update in 2026. nextplatform.com
Roadmap Advantage2 update 2026, Advantage3 about 2028, its update 2030, multi-chip path to 100,000 qubits Vendor reported Roadmap as reported by The Next Platform on 31 March 2025 from D-Wave CEO remarks; D-Wave later stressed gate-model plans (January 2026) without restating these annealing dates in sources read. nextplatform.com
