Cray ClusterStor 300
The Lustre appliance generation before ClusterStor E1000, built on Seagate disk hardware under Cray's ownership before Cray itself moved to HPE.
Why this part
Stampede2's storage layer: 35 Seagate disk-based ClusterStor 300 arrays, a 33-SSU scratch system plus a 2-SSU home system, backed by a separate 25 PB DDN Lustre system TACC calls Stockyard. Cray acquired the ClusterStor line from Xyratex in 2013 and HPE acquired Cray in 2019, so the same product line now sits under three different corporate owners depending on which year a given system bought it.

“Units recorded” sums only the edges where a public source states a quantity. It is a floor, not a total, and should never be read as installed base.
