Researched with AI assistance, checked by scripts. These rows were researched by AI agents reading public operator, laboratory and vendor sources, appended by scripts and checked by automated validation; no subject-matter expert has reviewed them (how this site is made). A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1350 of 1540 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 64 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read
Second CPU system of the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Supercomputing Center on the TOP500: Dell PowerEdge C6420 nodes with Xeon Platinum 8260 24-core 2.4 GHz on 25G Ethernet under Ubuntu, with Intel oneAPI compilers, MKL and MPI, installed 2021. TOP500 gives 43,200 cores (1,800 processors), Rmax 2.02 and Rpeak 5.31 PFlop/s with Nmax 3,970,560 and no power figure; older list entries print the peak as 53.08, an apparent decimal slip. Rmax is only about 38 percent of Rpeak. It debuted at 279th in June 2021 and was last listed at 499th in November 2023. The Lincoln Laboratory supercomputing pages fetched (supercloud.mit.edu) give no hardware details, so TOP500 is the only source and the tier is reported; the site is not stated and is left blank. The 2016 Xeon Phi machine is recorded as tx-green.
