Toubkal
Operated by Mohammed VI Polytechnic University at African Supercomputing Centre (UM6P) .
Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.
What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.
| Role | Part | Supplier at build | Quantity | Confidence | Source |

The read
Africa's most powerful supercomputer at its 2020 debut: a Dell PowerEdge C6420 cluster (CRC-StackHPC build) of Xeon Platinum 8276L nodes over Mellanox InfiniBand HDR100, installed at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University's African Supercomputing Centre in Ben Guerir, a joint effort with the University of Cambridge and OCP Group. TOP500 lists it debuting 98th on the November 2020 list at 3.16 PFlop/s Rmax, 5.01 PFlop/s Rpeak and 71,232 cores; independent press coverage (MoroccoTomorrow) confirms the same Dell/Xeon Platinum 8276/InfiniBand HDR100 configuration, a '69,000-plus' core count, a roughly 3.15 PFlop/s figure and the 98th-place TOP500 debut, so the tier is verified. The same coverage states more than 8,000 TB of combined storage and a facility built for up to 5MW of IT load; no accelerator is listed on this CPU-only system. Toubkal has since fallen to rank 409 on the June 2026 TOP500 list at the same Rmax, meaning no further hardware upgrade has been benchmarked; this row uses the November 2020 debut entry because the June 2026 edition is already at this dataset's 50-row cap for that edition.

Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
