Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read
One of the two current supercomputers Shared Services Canada operates on behalf of Environment and Climate Change Canada for weather, climate and air-quality forecasting: a Lenovo ThinkSystem SD650-N V2 Neptune direct-water-cooled cluster on Intel Xeon Platinum 8380 processors over InfiniBand HDR, first listed on the June 2022 TOP500 at rank 70. Named, per SSC's practice of naming its supercomputers after Canadian scientists since 2017, after Andre Robert, a pioneer of Canadian numerical weather prediction. The Government of Canada's own page states the pair's combined computing power as 15.5 petaFLOPS, which matches TOP500's individual Rmax figures of 7.76 PFlop/s each added together almost exactly, an independent cross-check between the operator and TOP500's own measured list; the tier is kept at reported rather than verified because the operator's own page does not break the combined figure down per machine. Lenovo's own weather and climate platform documentation independently confirms Neptune direct water cooling technology has supplied ECCC's HPC environment since 2021.

Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
