Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1263 of 1345 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 56 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

The Dutch national supercomputer operated by SARA (now SURF): an IBM Power 575 Hydro-Cluster of water-cooled POWER6 4.7 GHz nodes on InfiniBand. Computable reported 3,328 cores, 60 TFlop/s peak, 15,616 GB of memory and 972 TB of disk, delivered in August 2008 and opened on 11 September 2008, and the first Power 575 Hydro-Cluster to run Linux. TOP500 lists two SARA entries: 3,328 cores, 48.93 TFlop/s, 53rd in November 2008 (system 176072), and an expanded 3,456-core configuration with 50.92 TFlop/s Rmax, 64.97 TFlop/s Rpeak and 552 kW, 93rd in November 2009 and 304th in June 2011 (system 176522), which are the figures recorded here. Cartesius is recorded separately. The retirement date was not found.

Source check

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
