Fermi America Project Matador

Also known as Fermi America HyperGrid Amarillo

Operated by Fermi America at Project Matador Site (Carson County) .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1263 of 1345 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 56 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

Facility power 17,000 MW 2026-10-09 Design target Fermi quotes about 17 GW total private-grid capacity on its home and lease pages; its progress page lists about 11.4 GW (6 GW gas, 4.4 GW nuclear, 1 GW grid and renewables). investor.fermiamerica.comfermiamerica.com
Facility power 222 MW 2026-08-10 Operator stated TensorWave binding lease for 222 MW of total facility power in phase one, with rights that could take the partnership above 650 MW. investor.fermiamerica.com

How AI campuses are powered: capacities are what the operator, utility or filing states, not what has been delivered.

The read

Fermi America's Project Matador, a private-grid energy and AI data center campus on about 8,400 acres in Carson County in the Texas Panhandle next to the Pantex DOE complex. Fermi's site says steel construction has begun and first power is targeted for 2026, and its investor release of 10 August 2026 says TensorWave signed a binding lease for 222 MW of total facility power in phase one (rights to over 650 MW), with phased delivery from the second half of 2027 for tens of thousands of AMD Instinct GPUs. Fermi quotes about 17 GW of total campus capacity on its home and lease pages but about 11.4 GW on its progress page (about 6 GW gas, 4.4 GW nuclear, 1 GW grid and renewables); both are company statements and nothing is operating, so the tier is reported.

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
