Operated by Intel at Intel (undisclosed site) .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

Intel's own internal cluster, sited simply as "Intel" on TOP500 with no city or workload ever disclosed. This system ID has been continuously re-ranked across a dozen editions under evolving hardware, from 4,824 cores in June 2010 through the 31,524-core configuration recorded here (a mix of seven Xeon Gold/Platinum SKUs, 6245/8280/6230/8268/8260L/8276/9242, sharing one Omni-Path fabric), which last appeared at rank 479 in the June 2022 TOP500 list. TOP500 does not state what workloads run on it. Given the operator is a chip and process-technology company running an all-CPU HPC cluster under its own name at its own site, internal chip design, verification or EDA work is the most plausible use, the same inference this dataset already makes for Samsung's SSC-24 (see that row's notes_md), but it remains an inference rather than a sourced fact, so workload class is recorded as hpc and confidence stays at reported on a single source.

Source check

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
