IonQ Tempo

IonQ Tempo is a trapped ions quantum computer operated by IonQ in USA. It has 100 physical qubits. It ranks 2 of 15 trapped ion machines in this table by physical qubit count. 5 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. 1 published benchmark or milestone record are listed below, each marked by who measured it.

Also known as Tempo

IonQ's 100-qubit barium system, reported at #AQ 64 in September 2025, three months ahead of IonQ's schedule. IonQ's page describes 99.9 percent two-qubit fidelity as a target, so no measured fidelity is recorded here. IonQ announced in December 2025 that a Tempo will be delivered to KISTI in South Korea for integration with KISTI-6, but no delivery date is given, so that unit is not listed separately.

Processor IonQ Tempo, fifth-generation IonQ system with 100 qubits Vendor reported IonQ calls Tempo its fifth-generation quantum computer; IonQ's Tempo page gives 100 as a target qubit count and trade press reports a 100-qubit system. ionq.comquantumcomputingreport.com
Qubit type Barium (Ba+) trapped ions Vendor reported Described as IonQ's first barium processor in 2025 analyst-day coverage and as a barium system in a 2024 IonQ release; the current Tempo page does not name the species. quantumcomputingreport.comthequantuminsider.com
Access and pricing Inquiry-based; not listed among IonQ's public cloud backends in its docs Vendor reported IonQ's Tempo page offers an inquiry form; the IonQ docs backend table checked on 2026-10-09 lists only Forte, Forte Enterprise, Aria and Harmony hardware. ionq.comdocs.ionq.com
Predecessor IonQ Forte Vendor reported Trade press compares Tempo with the earlier Forte Enterprise machine at #AQ 35. quantumcomputingreport.comionq.com
Successor IonQ Superion 256 Vendor reported IonQ's Superion release names Tempo as its most recent previous generation. ionq.comquantumcomputingreport.com

Published benchmark figures

These are numbers the builder or a paper reports for this machine, not results from a common test. The basis column says who measured them. What the metrics mean and why they are not comparable across technologies.
