Cray-1 CPU
Single 80 MHz (12.5 ns cycle) vector/scalar processor with chained vector pipelines; the CPU of the first commercially successful vector supercomputer.
Why this part
Sources disagree on peak throughput: the Computer History Museum's own brochure text says 'over 80 million floating point operations' per second, while the commonly cited figure with three-way vector chaining is 160-240 MFLOPS. This dataset records the CPU itself rather than picking a single peak-FLOPS number; see the cray-1 system row for the figure used there.

“Units recorded” sums only the edges where a public source states a quantity. It is a floor, not a total, and should never be read as installed base.
