AWS Elastic Fabric Adapter

OS-bypass network interface using AWS’s own SRD transport rather than InfiniBand. Completes the AWS-designed stack: Graviton host, Trainium accelerator, EFA fabric, none of it sold as a part.

Why this part

An operating-system bypass adapter on top of ordinary data-centre Ethernet, using AWS's own Scalable Reliable Datagram transport instead of TCP or InfiniBand. SRD deliberately gives up in-order delivery and sprays packets across every available path, on the reasoning that a cloud network's real enemy is tail latency from congestion rather than raw hop time. It is the network layer of a fully AWS-designed node, none of which can be bought as hardware, and it is another large pool of compute that exists only as rentable capacity.

“Units recorded” sums only the edges where a public source states a quantity. It is a floor, not a total, and should never be read as installed base.
