Also known as Kabre Supercomputer
Operated by Centro Nacional de Alta Tecnologia at CeNAT / CNCA, Pavas .
Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

Figures are as last publicly reported for the configuration described below, not a live measurement. Where a system was upgraded in place, the post-upgrade configuration is shown and the earlier one appears in the timeline.
What this machine is made of
One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.
| Role | Part | Supplier at build | Quantity | Confidence | Source |

The read
Costa Rica's national HPC cluster, run by the Colaboratorio Nacional de Computacion Avanzada (CNCA) at the Centro Nacional de Alta Tecnologia (CeNAT) in Pavas, San Jose, built up over several procurement rounds rather than as a single named system. Its dominant partition is 32 Intel Xeon Phi 7210/7230F 'simulation' nodes (64 physical cores each, 2,048 cores total), alongside smaller Xeon E5-2650/E5-2620/E3-1225-based 'big data' and 'machine learning' partitions, the latter carrying NVIDIA Tesla K40c GPUs; a Xeon Gold 6154 bioinformatics node was listed as 'coming soon' at time of publication. A peer-reviewed CARLA conference paper co-authored by CNCA staff (published in Tecnologia en Marcha, Instituto Tecnologico de Costa Rica) gives this hardware table in detail; CeNAT's own current site independently states the same 2,048-core total and lists NVIDIA Tesla K40 and V100 GPUs, consistent with the paper's account plus later GPU additions. Both sources describe the same institution rather than two independent organizations, so the tier is reported rather than verified. No HPL run or vendor peak-FLOPS figure was found in either source, so rmax and rpeak are left blank; it has never appeared on TOP500.

Source check
We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
| Cited source | Result | Found on the page |
|---|---|---|
| cnca.cenat.ac.cr | names system only | - |
| revistas.tec.ac.cr | does not name this system | - |
