MMS1

Also known as Indonesian Maritime Meteorological System 1 HPC

Operated by BMKG at BMKG Headquarters, Kemayoran .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1092 of 1153 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 40 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

Indonesia's national meteorological agency BMKG built MMS1, a maritime-forecasting HPC system at its Jakarta headquarters in Kemayoran, under a November 2020 cooperation agreement with French satellite-oceanography company CLS (Collecte Localisation Satellites) and integrators Atos/Bull. CLS's own account of the February 2023 go-live gives 372 nodes (124 liquid-cooled blades of three nodes each) for a stated 1.31 PFlop/s peak, with 2 PB of low-latency storage, built to run BMKG's Ina-CAWO coupled atmosphere-wave-ocean forecasting model at 3km resolution. BMKG's own press release independently confirms the CLS partnership, the Kemayoran Jakarta location and the November 2020 signing date, but not the hardware specifics, so the tier is reported rather than verified; no CPU or GPU model was stated in either source, and it has never appeared on TOP500, so rmax is left blank and the peak figure is vendor_peak. BMKG separately unveiled a larger 'SMONG' HPC system (a stated 3 PFlop/s, 5 PFlop/s combined with existing capacity) in July 2025 at the same Jakarta site; this dataset cannot confirm from any directly fetched source whether SMONG absorbs, replaces or supplements MMS1, so SMONG is not recorded as a separate row to avoid double-counting the same underlying facility.

Source check

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.
