OCP Open Rack v3
Open Compute rack standard with 48 V busbar and liquid-cooling provisions.
Why this part
An open specification rather than a product, published by the Open Compute Project so that any manufacturer can build a compatible chassis and any operator can source it from more than one supplier. The 48V busbar eliminates most of the AC-to-DC conversion that happens today, converting once at the rack rather than in every server, which recovers several points of efficiency at the scale a hyperscaler operates at. It exists because the standard rack Facebook, Google and Amazon inherited from enterprise IT was never designed for GPU-class power density, and an open standard lets the whole industry move rather than one vendor's customers.
