LPDDR5X

Low-power mobile-derived DRAM, soldered rather than socketed. The host memory under Grace and Graviton4.

Why this part

Phone and laptop memory pressed into service at server scale, and the choice says something about where the pressure in a modern accelerated node actually is. LPDDR draws roughly half the power per bit of a registered DDR5 DIMM, at the cost of being soldered down: no after-market upgrade, no swapping a failed module, the capacity is fixed at the factory. NVIDIA's Grace and AWS's Graviton4 both made that trade, because in a node where the accelerators already draw the large majority of the power budget, host memory is one of the few places left to claw watts back, and neither buyer expects to upgrade host memory independently of replacing the whole board regardless.

Systems using this part

No systems in the current dataset record this part. It is carried in the taxonomy so the graph is complete, and so edges can attach to it as coverage grows.
