ETA10 CPU

CMOS vector CPU, sold in configurations of up to 8 per system; the ETA-10E ran a 10.5 ns cycle (about 95 MHz) and the later ETA-10G a 7 ns cycle (about 142 MHz). The E and G models were liquid-nitrogen cooled; the lower-cost Q and P models were air-cooled.

Why this part

Peak-performance figures vary sharply by source and by configuration: Wikipedia cites a 10 GFLOPS system peak for top models, while FSU's own account of its single upgraded processor cites 52 MFLOPS on a LINPACK benchmark and a 6-gigaflip-per-second 'world record' claim for a specific multiprocessor run in fall 1987. These describe different configurations and benchmarks rather than a single figure that can be reconciled here.

“Units recorded” sums only the edges where a public source states a quantity. It is a floor, not a total, and should never be read as installed base.
