DDN's SAN storage controller generation before the Lustre-appliance EXAScaler line, running GPFS and PVFS on top rather than shipping Lustre itself.
Why this part
The storage layer under Argonne's Intrepid Blue Gene/P: 16 S2A9900 controller pairs behind 128 file servers running both PVFS and GPFS concurrently, for a combined 5.2 PB and roughly 78 GB/s peak. DDN's later EXAScaler line packages Lustre as the filesystem instead; the S2A9900 generation is block storage with the parallel filesystem layer built separately on top of it.
