Ceph

Open-source distributed object storage, commonly deployed as the large-capacity tier alongside a faster Lustre or GPFS scratch tier rather than replacing it.

Why this part

Ceph is to object storage roughly what Lustre is to parallel scratch filesystems: open source, owned by no single vendor, and sold as an integration rather than a product. Vega pairs it with a DDN Lustre tier for exactly this reason, fast flash for active I/O, cheap erasure-coded Ceph for everything that just needs to be kept.

“Units recorded” sums only the edges where a public source states a quantity. It is a floor, not a total, and should never be read as installed base.
